Admission Requirements (Graduate)

The University requirement for admission to any master’s degree program is the demonstration of the completion of a bachelor’s degree from a regionally accredited institution or from a recognized foreign institution. Matriculation into the program will be granted upon receipt of their officially conferred degree. Once matriculated, students will be eligible to enroll in classes.
Applicants must submit an official transcript from the college or university from which their bachelor’s degree or equivalency was granted, excluding the University of Maine System (UMS) campuses. (UMS transcripts are accessible to 91��ɫ.)
Official transcripts from any institution from which you have earned graduate credit are required for credit transfer evaluation. A maximum of six credits can be applied to graduate programs. Graduate-level credit may be evaluated provided the credits were earned from a regionally accredited U.S. university or a comparable international university.
Official transcripts must be sent by the institution directly to edocs@maine.edu or an institution-approved transcript service (Parchment and the National Student Clearing House).
Applicants whose GPAs are less than 3.0 are required to submit a personal statement. The personal statement (not to exceed 500 words) should reflect the applicant’s ability to write at the graduate level, with attention to appropriate grammar, spelling, form, and structure in preparing the statement. Applicants are asked to respond to the following:
- Explain how you will ensure your academic success in this graduate program and overcome challenges you may have experienced with your undergraduate program of studies.

International students are eligible to apply and enroll; however, an I-20 will NOT be provided as this is a fully online degree program. In addition to the standard admissions requirements, international students must also meet the additional requirements specific to international applicants.

Applicants must be at least 20 years of age at the time of application, unless they have previously earned a bachelor’s or an associate’s degree from a regionally accredited institution.
High school diploma or equivalent (e.g., HiSet, GED)
Minimum cumulative college GPA of 1.75 from the most recently attended institution
- Submission of all official transcripts:Transcripts are only considered official if they are sent directly to 91��ɫ from the granting institution or their electronic ordering service. Student-submitted transcripts are not accepted.
Students who do not have any college credits must submit the following:
- Provide high school transcript, high school equivalency test (HiSet), or GED

Instructions for international students:

All international transcripts will only be accepted if the student provides them through an evaluation service. The evaluation agency must be a member of NACES or AICE. We will not accept unofficial copies (e.g., from the student)
Canadian schools and universities from a French-only institution (mostly in the province of Quebec) must be evaluated
International students are required to demonstrate English proficiency by submitting scores from an English language proficiency test taken no more than two-years prior to date of application

Like all of our YourPace degree programs, our Master of Arts in American Studies is built around competency-based learning, so you work at your own pace to master competencies and advance through coursework–the faster you prove your knowledge, the faster you move ahead and the more you save. Admission Requirements (Graduate)

The University requirement for admission to any master’s degree program is the demonstration of the completion of a bachelor’s degree from a regionally accredited institution or from a recognized foreign institution. Matriculation into the program will be granted upon receipt of their officially conferred degree. Once matriculated, students will be eligible to enroll in classes.
Applicants must submit an official transcript from the college or university from which their bachelor’s degree or equivalency was granted, excluding the University of Maine System (UMS) campuses. (UMS transcripts are accessible to 91��ɫ.)
Official transcripts from any institution from which you have earned graduate credit are required for credit transfer evaluation. A maximum of six credits can be applied to graduate programs. Graduate-level credit may be evaluated provided the credits were earned from a regionally accredited U.S. university or a comparable international university.
Official transcripts must be sent by the institution directly to edocs@maine.edu or an institution-approved transcript service (Parchment and the National Student Clearing House).
Applicants whose GPAs are less than 3.0 are required to submit a personal statement. The personal statement (not to exceed 500 words) should reflect the applicant’s ability to write at the graduate level, with attention to appropriate grammar, spelling, form, and structure in preparing the statement. Applicants are asked to respond to the following:

Admissions Requirements and Guidelines for Undergraduate Programs

Applicants must be at least 20 years of age at the time of application, unless they have previously earned a bachelor’s or an associate’s degree from a regionally accredited institution.
High school diploma or equivalent (e.g., HiSet, GED)
Minimum cumulative college GPA of 1.75 from the most recently attended institution
- Submission of all official transcripts:Transcripts are only considered official if they are sent directly to 91��ɫ from the granting institution or their electronic ordering service. Student-submitted transcripts are not accepted.
Students who do not have any college credits must submit the following:
- Provide high school transcript, high school equivalency test (HiSet), or GED

Instructions for international students:

All international transcripts will only be accepted if the student provides them through an evaluation service. The evaluation agency must be a member of NACES or AICE. We will not accept unofficial copies (e.g., from the student)
Canadian schools and universities from a French-only institution (mostly in the province of Quebec) must be evaluated
International students are required to demonstrate English proficiency by submitting scores from an English language proficiency test taken no more than two-years prior to date of application

The mission of the undergraduate, interdisciplinary gerontology certificate is to prepare students for work with older adults, and older adult caregivers. Coursework in areas of biological, social, and psychological aging as well as policy provide comprehensive knowledge and skills for graduates to positively influence issues of aging.

At UMF, we recognize that academic disciplines do not exist in a vacuum, and to fully understand a subject, one must move beyond the silos of the individual disciplines and integrate the knowledge, skills, and dispositions that are found in related, complementary academic subjects. Through our interdisciplinary approach, students will study at least two differing subjects and look at the connections between them.

About the Concentration

Public Policy spans a variety of different disciplines, connecting any discipline’s focus with the laws, policies and institutional framework surrounding that particular focus. Someone entering the world of policy benefits from a broad knowledge of policy issues, and specific information about how agencies operate.

Building on a core set of courses on public policy, policy analysis, and statistical methods, students will branch out into areas directly connected to their own policy interests, ranging from globalization, health care, education, gender and development, human rights, climate change, and environmental policy. While the program has a focus on local government and public administration, this approach provides students with an opportunity to make the program more relevant to their own interests and experiences.

The admission process is the first step toward earning your degree and expanding your opportunities. We’ve streamlined the process to help you get started quickly and easily. Students interested in the RN to BSN YourPace program must meet the following requirements for admission.

Official transcripts from previous institutions
GPA of 2.5 or higher
Free online application
Current, unencumbered RN license
ADN/ASN from an accredited university, with a minimum 2.5 overall GPA OR diploma in nursing
Official transcripts from all colleges/universities attended and any other required documents
Applicants must be at least 20 years of age at the time of application, unless they have previously earned a bachelor’s or an associate’s degree from an accredited institution.

Instructions for international students:

All international transcripts will only be accepted if the student provides them through an evaluation service. The evaluation agency must be a member of NACES or AICE. We will not accept unofficial copies (e.g., from the student)
Canadian schools and universities from a French-only institution (mostly in the province of Quebec) must be evaluated
International students are required to demonstrate English proficiency by submitting scores from an English language proficiency test taken no more than two-years prior to date of application

Admission Requirements (Graduate)

The University requirement for admission to any master’s degree program is the demonstration of the completion of a bachelor’s degree from a regionally accredited institution or from a recognized foreign institution. Matriculation into the program will be granted upon receipt of their officially conferred degree. Once matriculated, students will be eligible to enroll in classes.
Applicants must submit an official transcript from the college or university from which their bachelor’s degree or equivalency was granted, excluding the University of Maine System (UMS) campuses. (UMS transcripts are accessible to 91��ɫ.)
Official transcripts from any institution from which you have earned graduate credit are required for credit transfer evaluation. A maximum of six credits can be applied to graduate programs. Graduate-level credit may be evaluated provided the credits were earned from a regionally accredited U.S. university or a comparable international university.
Official transcripts must be sent by the institution directly to edocs@maine.edu or an institution-approved transcript service (Parchment and the National Student Clearing House).
Applicants whose GPAs are less than 3.0 are required to submit a personal statement. The personal statement (not to exceed 500 words) should reflect the applicant’s ability to write at the graduate level, with attention to appropriate grammar, spelling, form, and structure in preparing the statement.
